Class Description
Monologues are the cornerstone of the audition process – demonstrating not only your acting skills and showcasing who you are – but also your ability to understand the piece and the character you are portraying, your experience, professionalism and training.

Shakespearean and other classical works are often the most elusive and feared monologues to undertake.

As well as well-written contemporary film, television and stage materials, most agents, managers and casting directors will also advise that you have a few contrasting classical pieces within your audition arsenal. This 5-week workshop will help unveil the mysteries and lessen the fear around Shakespearean monologues – delving into multiple layers of text, behavior and relationships to help you find the arc, create an interesting journey, and a clear and exciting performance.

Depending on the condition of the piece(s) you bring in, we will work towards one or two audition ready monologues.

Prerequisite: You are currently in second year of training or have completed your study in the Meisner work or equivalent acting technique.
If you have not trained at the Studio or are not currently a student, you are still invited to join the workshop.
An interview and possible audition is required for actors new to the Studio.
