Gene Terruso

Master Acting Teacher

An actor, director, playwright and educator whose career includes credits on Broadway, regional theatre and abroad, as well as film and TV. He has a long association with legacy institutions as artistic director of off-Broadway’s historic Provincetown Playhouse (the theatre winning several Obies during his tenure), director of the School of Theatre at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts and as President of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC and Hollywood).

He studied with Sanford Meisner, whom he assisted at his Hollywood studio. Gene is a long-time teacher of the technique, his own Meisner Through the Lens class and workshops in Bobby Lewis’ portrait exercise. A two-time Fulbright awardee, Gene founded the B.E.S.T. Divadlo in Europe which has been invited to several of the continent’s most distinguished festivals and has taught at conservatories in London, Brussels and Berlin, including the Netherlands’ Arnhem Akademie and England’s National Theatre.
