Meisner Acting – 1st year
Class Description
Based on the principles of Sanford Meisner, the work involves a series of progressive exercises that build upon one another – the successful understanding and application of each essential to the success of the next and so on. The first layers of exercises (repetition, activities, the door) will focus on the importance of learning how to listen fully and to respond truthfully within an imaginary circumstance.
In this class you will be challenged to
Work More – Go Deeper – Learn More – Move Further – Experience More
This initial stage lays the groundwork essential to a clear and full understanding of emotional preparation, relationships, and objectives. The goal is to achieve a strong foundation by discarding protective walls and emerging a freer, more open and honest person with an acting instrument ready to build a character and craft a role.
The full 1st year program is divided into two 18-week semesters. The first 2-weeks concentrates on Imagination and Creativity in the Authentic Actor.
Prerequisite: Interview and possible audition is required before acceptance into this class.
